Normandy Departments & Towns Normandy France, for which we are principal estate agents, is split into two regions Basse Normandie & Haute Normandie. The total population of Normandy, which we cover as estate agents, is 3.26 million (Figures estimated at January 2006) with a population density of 109 inhabitants per km2.This compares favourably with the UK which in 2003 had a population density of 344 per km2. France is roughly 2.5 times the area of the UK so for all new House buyers to France there is still plenty of room! The capital of Haute Normandie is Rouen and the population there is 518,000 approximately which by many expectations is low for a principal city. The capital of Basse Normandie is Caen with a population of 370,000 approximately. Basse Normandie or Lower Normandy is made up of three departments i.e. Calvados, Manche and Orne.
Haute Normandie (Higher Normandy) is made up of two departments Eure and Seine-Maritime.
